Berrin Kilicarslan

Middle-Level Math Education

Berrin Kilicarslan, a middle-level math education major, moved to the United States in 2018 from Turkey, where she was a math teacher for 18 years. Berrin overcame a lot of obstacles, including giving birth two days after her doctoral thesis defense and presentation in Turkey. "It was very difficult for me at the time, but I overcame."

Berrin misses teaching math and wants to pursue her teaching career in the U.S. Her degree from Delaware Tech will help her to reach that goal.

After starting at Delaware Tech, Berrin felt more positive and comfortable in the United States. "The instructors at Delaware Tech always encourage students to do their best."

Berrin advised students to, "never give up and never stop asking questions. Education changes people and people change the world."

After graduating from Delaware Tech, Berrin would like to teach math here in the United States.
